And arguably men that aren't married have more free time and luxury than most men through out history. Men toiled through most of civilization, they worked long hours at hard labor. Disease, famine, violence were all more prevalent.

And I think you are forgetting women are women and they always have been. The bible warns about adulterous women, about quarrelsome women. A good wife was more valuable than rubies . . . and just as rare.

You might have been able to "check" your wife back then, but don't think you could kick her out and not face some social checks from her family.

Men have way more freedom now than they ever did.

Ras al Ghulnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6395564333682113597.post-16539455330147835352014-10-14T07:51:03.421+13:002014-10-14T07:51:03.421+13:00Realistically there were checks and balances. Yes,...Realistically there were checks and balances. Yes, in the old days it benefited women. Yet it similarly benefited men. If she was way outta line then she was kicked out to starve while the man - the generally-more-responsible sex - was still on the hook for her children. At least he still retained everything that he'd ever worked for to be used for the benefit of himself and her children.

Children who might not have been his. It would be very interesting to know what the level of men bringing up other men's bastard children was about 200 years ago. At any rate, it still benefited the women and their offspring tremendously.

Now however: it's all benefits to the women. Nothing to the men at all. Kick the woman out for bad behavior (or she leaves because she simply doesn't feel like being fucked by him no more) and he's still on the hook for her, children, plus she basically gets everything anyways.

By the way, if anyone's seen the film Les Miserables - it's interesting how Jean Valjean allowed himself to become the protector of an unrelated woman's daughter. Said daughter not being his blood, nor had he had the pleasure of fucking said unrelated woman.

The poor will always be with us, both materially and morally.Black Poison Soulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07378635809751908950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6395564333682113597.post-40664485096958246842014-10-14T06:18:19.304+13:002014-10-14T06:18:19.304+13:00@Ras
